MEANTIME, Hardwick Gallery, and Take A Part CIC are thrilled to announce they have been awarded £13K from Arts Council England for a programme of projects co-created with and for residents of St Peter’s and St Paul’s, Cheltenham.

The programme, called Love St Peter’s, Love St Paul’s, will run from May to September 2017 and involves a series of workshops including film-making, baking and ceramics exploring the history, greenspace, culture and creativity of the area.

Tom Goddard is working with Gardner’s Lane Primary School to create local history banners; Samantha Jones (Homebaked) will explore the history of the Cheltenham Dripper and work with residents to revive local recipes; Jack Price will work with young people on professional film-making techniques; and Scott Farlow is working with local ceramicist Kate Anderson to facilitate workshops that use local clay.

The programme launches on Friday 19^th May 2017, 5.30-7.30pm at the Herrington Rooms, St Paul’s Church with presentations by the artists and discussion about the workshops. Contact info@meantime.org.uk for more information.

Love St Peter’s, Love St Paul’s was devised by Sarah Bowden, curator of Hardwick Gallery, and Take A Part CIC in partnership with an Arts Action Group of residents from the communities of St Peter’s and St Pauls, and aims to discover, support and develop creative practice in the area.

Sarah Bowden of Hardwick Gallery said, “It was great to hear that our Arts Council application was successful. This is the first step towards a long-term plan for ambitious arts co-commissioning in the area.”

Kate Anderson, ceramicist and St Peter’s resident said, “I’ve lived in Marsh Lane for 14 years and I’m so lucky to have the support of my neighbour’s and the sense of community that we all feel. To be able to work with the wider community bringing together people’s skills, stories and experiences and express these through clay is very exciting, and immensely  rewarding.”

Hardwick Gallery, University of Gloucestershire’s new visual arts gallery, sits between St Peter’s and St Paul’s at the Centre for Art & Photography, Hardwick Campus. The Arts Council application was supported by St Peter’s & The Moors Big Local, the University of Gloucestershire, and the Janet Trotter Trust.
