Join us for the talk and performance event for Simon Ryder’s experimental collaborative project Score for a Flautist on Thursday 17th March, 4.30-7pm.

Simon Ryder’s current project, Deep Time Chalk Futures, provides a new narrative about climate change through the medium of chalk. Made from the ‘skeletons’ of tiny marine plankton, chalk is both a living and geological material. For the artist, chalk is intimately connected with time: with geological time, historic time, and accelerating current time.

At Hardwick Gallery, Simon Ryder will be constructing a chalk studio/laboratory for a short period in residence, working with international beatbox flautist Tadek Chylinski-Reid to create a Score for a Flautist, which will be performed during the event.
